I want to go to some historical site or other, take a tour and learn new things, end up in the gift shop and look at all the neat things and all the cheesy things and consider buying something along the lines of a Christmas ornament, and afterwards go out for dinner.
What I will actually do today:
Sit on my butt and explore internet pages about apartment hunting, home-made chess sets, and whatever other random things happen to appeal to me.
In honor of my desired activity, I am wearing my Kitty Hawk T-shirt, which I did not buy in that "Mecca" (as Irish-pilot Garrett called it), but in Avon, NC- well south of there. The Kitty Hawk T-shirts that were actually sold in Kitty Hawk (or Kill Devil Hills, for that matter) were much more expensive and much less like something I would want to wear.
Isn't "Kill Devil Hills" a great place name?
Friday night Erica and I went to Borders to do the Bookstore-and-cafe-drink thing. I did not buy any books, amazingly. Not that I wasn't tempted. Because I was, you see. But I demonstrated amazing self control. Also, I saw Abe! That was cool, as the times that I've seen him since I graduated from UMBC could probably be counted on one hand. I'm not really sure. Anyway, I talked to him for a little while, and that pleased me.
Friday at work, Jennie (the receptionist back in the customer service department) called out sick. This meant that I had to sit at her desk from 8:30 to 4:00. The phones were amazingly quiet, and as she doesn't have to deal with the public except over the phone (and therefore doesn't have to look professional and busy all the time), I was able to sit and read for 7.5 hours with very few interruptions. All in all, not a bad day at work.
I talked to Rohini yesterday! Whoo!
Okey-doke, I think it just may be lunch time.
