Snowpocalypse takes a belated victim

The metal awning over our back porch is now on our back porch. It collapsed yesterday afternoon, before I got home. According to Sharif, there was a terrible noise (of course) and the birdie freaked the hell out (of course). Ugh. This happened to our neighbors across the alley several days ago, but I thought we'd come through the crazy snowfall OK. There wasn't even any snow left on the awning! Our best guess is that there was a big chunk of ice on the roof that finally dislodged itself and proved to be the last straw when it hit the awning.

So the insurance company is going to send someone to look at it, but who knows how long it'll be before anything can actually be done to fix it? The back yard is still a box full of snow. And we can't get out the back door now, since there's a broken metal awning in the way. I guess we should count ourselves lucky that it didn't hit the AC unit or the grill.

On top of that, I only got about 4 hours of unbroken sleep last night. Woke up around 3:45am, and was only able to drift in and out of light sleep after that. So I'm pretty tired.

At least it's Friday. And I'm glad that I finally seem to have a handle on the day of the week again. What with the snow days and the holiday, I've spent most of this week feeling out of sync.
