Since Erica has a show tomorrow and the rest of us should probably spend that evening packing for North Carolina anyway, the family had a Joanna's Birthday (observed) dinner last night. I chose to go to Victoria, since I've been curious about it since they put it into the former Bennigan's across from my work. I think I made the right choice. There was andouille sausage on my steak! And I made Sharif inordinately happy by choosing a place that uses sea bass in its fish and chips. I fear he may want to eat only that from now on. It's an expensive proposition.
Anyway, my meal was delicious, my chocolate zucchini cupcake with vanilla ice cream in a ginger snap shell was delicious, the cumin duck quesadilla & pork rib & heirloom tomato appetizers were delicious. They were out of the ginger beer for the drink I ordered, but the Cosmopolitan that I got instead was also quite good. I left feeling satisfied.
Back at the house, I got to open presents, which were heavy on the DVDs this year. I now have 2 seasons of Pee-Wee's Playhouse, a couple of sets of Good Eats (both from my parents), and the complete series of Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist (from Erica and Michael). I also have a Lego catapult (complete with orc and dwarf) (from E & M), a sturdy and roomy daypack from L.L. Bean, an Uglydoll (named Moxy), and my very own pocket knife (all from the boyfriend). That last is pretty slick and very sharp, and Sharif apparently went through some real trouble to find the right color for me (green!). I've already used it to open some DVD packaging. I'm dangerous like my boyfriend now!
The only downside to the evening, as far as I can tell, is that I missed Project Runway. Too bad they won't be showing it 70 thousand times in the next few days . . . oh, wait. I guess I'm OK. Thank you for not Twittering anything terribly specific last night!
Today is my Friday. Hooray!
