About Pre-Warning

Previous Entry Pre-Warning May. 9th, 2008 @ 10:22 am Next Entry
I've signed up for the "Loud Twitter" service- it will start posting my day's Twitter activities each night around midnight. I wasn't planning on doing that, since metalcrowe and I had a conversation not too long ago about what I felt my different uses for Twitter would be, compared to my Livejournal. And I thought that if anyone was interested in reading what I had to say on Twitter, they could get to that on their own. But Livejournal has a calendar/archive system that I use for myself. Sometimes I forget that past a couple of days, the main reader of this journal is me. I frequently go back to the archive to see what I was doing on a certain day, or to figure out when exactly something happened. And I realized that I would like to have my . . . "tweets" . . . in my personal records, no matter how trivial.

I'm sure that no one is particularly interested in this explanation for the addition of one small entry on their friendspage each day, but hey . . . in a few years, I might find it interesting. Maybe.

I haven't confirmed that it works yet (damn you work firewall and your blocking of XMPP messages!), but I believe you can set up your twitter account to send updates to your Jabber IM screenname (which includes Google Talk; the Jabber address is the same as your gmail address). Turn device updates over IM on; I think you'll also have to enable notifications for each of the people you're following.

Look at you , all connected to the interweb.
I have been having the HARDIEST time EVER to update my twitter through text messages.

I followed every freakin instruction they had up there.
that's the whole freakin reason why I decided to join twitter in the first place. If that doesn't work, then I might just end my account, because at the point it would be useless to me.

but yay you =)

That's so weird! I had no trouble setting up the txt function at all. Don't you just have to enter a phone number into your account and then send a little code to the number they give you? (Not like I can be any help. You're surely better with computer things than I am.)

I wonder why it doesn't like you!

I did get the whole code thing, and I sent it and got some responses back, but when ever I try to update from text it just doesn't want to work.
its UPER frustrating, grrrrr.

Technology usually likes me, but not this time for some reason =(
