Apple Sweater
Brought to you by Indiana Joanna.
Peanut got a haircut. This made her so much smaller that her old red sweater didn't fit anymore. So Sharif and I took her to the Yuppy Puppy Pet Boutique in Ellicott City and bought her a new outfit. The red spot on the back of the sweater is an apple. She also has a new tan and red plaid collar that isn't visible in this picture. She's so cute.

So... her hair was cut off... to be replaced by.... a sweater...

I just don't understand yuppy puppy parent behaviors, I guess. You know, hair keeps dogs warm.

Yes, it does. And it would have been fine until summer if her hair had been brushed properly for the months and months that it had been growing. But Shih Tzu hair just keeps growing, and it was matted completely, and it was growing into her eyes. She was rubbing her face on the carpet basically all day, because she was so itchy. The haircut was required. And because it was so matted, they could not just do a trim to make it neater; it all had to come off.

Ben says that he found out that he'd been using the wrong kind of brush. So now he has a new one and maybe it'll work and the hair will grow in more neatly and managably. We'll see.

If Ben had his way, she would never wear any clothes at all. But the thing he'd bought her before didn't fit, and she was shivering even while wearing it, so Sharif and I decided to take care of her and have a little fun with it.

Huh. Some friends of mine growing up had a shih tzu whoose hair they never cut, but I don't remember them ever brushing it or cutting it. Not that I lived at their house or anything, clearly they may have brushed it when I wasn't there.

Doggies with horrible itches deserve relief, for sure. Poor puppa! Well, the sweater is very cute. There are many chihuahuas in Tucson, including my friend Candis' dog Toggle. Toggle wears clothes and Candis is a fashionista, so Toggle wears very cool clothes. When I don't have to go to work (like I do now), I'll hopefully remember to link you to some photos.
