About Dry

Previous Entry Dry Oct. 25th, 2006 @ 04:26 pm Next Entry
I woke up this morning and thought that I was ill. But then I realized that I was just really really really really thirsty. That hasn't changed all day. I've been drinking water in ridiculous amounts (and therefore making frequent trips to the ladies' room), but it hasn't made a difference. The inside of my head feels incredibly dry, and it's just not fun.

Open mic last night, on the other hand, was great fun. A smorgasbord of good music and fun people. And pumpkin ale on tap. I like the nights when I feel like I know practically everyone in the place. And of the people I didn't know, one of them had a washtub bass. Or, as I like to call it, a stickbucket bass. This was tremendously awesome. As was his banjoing partner. And, well, everyone that I already knew. It seems Keegan is going to be recording an album soon, which shall be good for my state of mind when I get "Fairy Jenny" stuck in my head (this is not infrequent). And apparently I'm on hugging terms with Daniel Lee? Ok.

This weekend promises to be tremendously busy, so I hope I don't get sick. I intend to attend two ilyAIMY shows, spraypaint my hair blue, and celebrate two different events at two different times on the same day. It will go quickly, and I intend to enjoy myself. Shouldn't be hard.

In other news Neil Gaiman directs us here. As with many things, he is absolutely right to do so.

Daniel Lee...

...is on hugging terms with anyone he thinks is nice. He is a shaggy ball of affection.

Do not be sick!

That is cool! I enjoy of the hugs, but I am usually surprised the first time they are administered.

I shall try my hardest to remain well! Mostly I will do this by drinking lots of water. And telling myself not to get sick. It might work.

oh, neat! I want to see a washboard bass and a banjo playing duo.

I hope you're feeling more hydrated today.

Yes, you do! These two older dudes totally enthralled an entire coffee house of self-involved college students and late-twenties open mic veterans. The banjo guy played Dueling Banjos as a duel between his banjo and his voice! And he had a killer Louis Armstrong impression.

Apparently they have a washboard player too, but he wasn't there this time.

And thanks- I'm still drinking lots of water, but I'm certainly feeling better.
