I don’t know why, but I will occasionally develop a drawl in my voice when speaking to certain people at work. It’s very odd. I don’t think that I normally sound like that.
And here's the weekend roundup!
My weekend went by quickly, as usual. We managed to remain planless for Friday, which made me very happy. We took advantage of this by having a very pleasant evening. After I got home from work, Sharif and I successfully mounted the bike rack on his car. (OK, he did most of the work. I distracted the puppy and tightened a couple of straps.) We then took a field trip to the bike shop we’d visited the day before- we’d left one of our purchases behind. It was just a $5 water bottle, but it was paid for, so we wanted it. While we were there, I went ahead and bought a helmet for myself, in anticipation of liberating my bike from the parents’ basement. My helmet is bright orange and I think that it is awesome. So there.
On our way home, we decided that we needed both Chinese food and ice cream. Luckily, these are easy needs to fulfill. So to Catonsville we went! We ordered takeout, walked down to Friendly’s while it was being prepared, stopped into Bill’s Music briefly for a chat with Brennan, then crossed the street again to pick up our food. The rest of the evening was food and Ray and the puppy dog.
Saturday morning, Sharif fulfilled a lunch appointment at his parents’ house. I was invited, but chose to stay in bed. I am only slightly remorseful, as I really was incredibly comfortable. Once I was able to move, I had a shopping outing to Ellicott City and the Mall. Lounged and napped in the afternoon until it was time to go to Erica’s house.
Tim’s farewell (and birthday celebration)! Alas for the moving of friends, although it is an excellent excuse for a fun fun party. It started out with just me and Erica and Sharif and Tim and his dad. Erica called our parents “to tell them that they should come say goodbye”. And come they did, with a whole load of people in tow! It wasn’t a total surprise, but the numbers were greater than Tim expected, and I think it turned out really well. We celebrated the Tim and ate and talked and played word-related card games. (Apples to Apples, of course, as well as a new one. In A Pickle, it's called, and we discovered that we can't play it competatively, really. It's just too much fun to be cooperative and to appreciate the complex justifications that people use to allow the play of certain cards.)
Tim’s in Michigan now, after a whole day driving in an un-air-conditioned car, with an unhappy kitty as a passenger. Brave man.
Sunday was also social and fun, this time at the parents’ house. We had lots of people, lots of food, lots of noise. We rescued my bike from its forced confinement. We brought the puppy by for a visit. She was a hit, of course. She’s getting a little braver, and has now gone up and down the stairs all by herself. I’m very proud. (What does it say about me that I’m this goofy about a dog that is not mine, is not even my boyfriend’s, and does not live in the same house as me? She belongs to my boyfriend’s roommate. Ah well.)
It’s meant to be hot and unpleasant this week. Next weekend, I am truly excited to say, we are completely unscheduled, and intend to stay that way. I love it. Hopefully, we will manage to be hermit-like and unsocial. That’s what I need.
