My weekend was great, included an extra day, and was Busy. It started out fairly normally, a relatively quiet Friday night- Applebee’s dinner and lazing around the house. Saturday included a Friendly’s lunch with ice cream after, wandering Ellicott City, an Italian soda, a harlequin Great Dane, and eight hours at Perk. We arrived at “Perk-a-palooza” just in time for “Dogs Can Fly”, and if you know what that means . . . well, then you know what that means. There was music and fun and 2-for-$5 Coronas. My dinner was a brownie late at night. The weather was lovely, and cool enough for a time that Sharif got to show off his new leather jacket. Home late and tired, up early.
Sunday! Rohini’s “surprise” farewell brunch! Everyone did amazing things with food- we had quiche, bratwursts, Krispy Kreme bread pudding, croissant French toast with apple filling, southwest chicken crepes, breakfast burritos with chorizo and potato, homemade blueberry muffins, strawberry soup . . . so much food! There were tiny plastic ninjas and a banner that said “Mad Props”. And Jake and Denise came! With the lovely lovely Rita! 10 and a half months old, and I hadn’t met her yet. She is the sweetness indeed. I think that everyone had a nice time, and it was a very brunchy sort of event, with eating and talking and just general relaxed sitting around- basically what I had in mind.
After everyone left, I took some time to straighten up and to put some things together for Monday, so I wouldn’t have to worry about it later. I then met up with Sharif again at his place, where I played with the Xbox 360 while he cooked dinner. My wood elf in Oblivion is now up to Level 3 . . . this is entirely unimpressive, but I hardly play at all, so it’s OK. I’m pleased with her. I probably spend far too much time killing bandits so that I can steal their clothes- but hey, a fashion-conscious elf without any gold has got to find some way to put together an outfit she likes. Dinner was lovely if very very late, and bedtime was also far later than it should have been, considering the plan for the next day, but that’s OK. It was a good good day.
As was Monday. I took off work, but got up a full hour before I normally do. We were in the car for about 4 hours, in the rain, in the traffic. But ultimately, Sharif, Sarah, Rohini and I spend the day at Kings Dominion, and had a great time. The rain and the day meant that there was hardly anyone in the park- the lines were practically nonexistent. But it stopped raining soon after we arrived, and the sun came out in the afternoon, and it was just swell. We managed to do 5 roller coasters in the first two hours- after which we had to slow down, just so that I could survive. It turns out that I am of a weaker stock than the others. But I did go on the extreme coasters and didn’t die, despite being shaken. At one point, after being accelerated to 80mph in less than two seconds, I had a hard time walking in a straight line. Great fun, but not something I could do more than once in a short time frame. We were there from 11am to 8pm, and managed to do everything that we wanted. We even had leisure time to decide what we wanted to do again. Stopped for dinner at Cracker Barrel on the way home, so I was a happy girl. A tired, still-queasy girl full of food, but a happy girl nonetheless. I got home after midnight, fell into sleep, and had to get up way before I was ready.
But I’m starting the week on Tuesday, so I shouldn’t complain too much. Although I should actually do some work.
