Sharif told me the other day about an article he had read that suggested stimulating new brain activity by showering with your eyes closed or brushing your teeth with your non-dominant hand. Fairly inevitably, I took this as a challenge. The blind showering actually went quite smoothly- I was rather proud of myself for remembering (eyes still closed) that although the shampoo and conditioner bottles are the same shape, the conditioner is harder to squeeze and therefore more dented. Brushing my teeth with my left hand, though, proved far more difficult than expected. It’s funny watching in the mirror as I’m struggling to do a good job with the toothbrush, and noticing my right hand making vague brushing motions in the air, in a vain attempt to help out.
Change of routine! It’s like a vacation, except without any of the actual going places and having fun*!
*OK, it is a little fun.
