Yesterday's open mic was fun, of course. Ann came, which is exciting in and of itself. AND she came bearing gifts, which just makes the whole experience even more thrilling. In honor of the little plastic monkeys that Ann distributed (mine is named Jimmy Olsen, I know not why), Erica and I provided words for Dave's newest and thus far lyricless song. Essentially, they went "Monkeys! . . . Monkeys monkeys monkeys monkeys! . . . Mon. Keys! Monkeys! . . . . " and so on. I think it worked well.
We also played a lengthy game of Apples to Apples, in which the most interesting group of answers came for the adjective "sexy". I believe that, because Erica was the judge, Tim won with the card for "my hair". But there were some interesting runners-up. I personally was pleased with the response to my adjective of "extreme", which varied from "mud" to "inside the sun".
Dave-without-journal is getting married this weekend. That's three days away! Incredible. Imagine being that grown up. I'll be there and celebrating. But I'll also be thinking things like "Dave is married. Jake and Denise are married and have a baby. It's so weird to be an adult." I wonder if it ever becomes not-weird. And do I even want to stop being surprised about it?
