Self portrait

I was playing around with the digital camera yesterday, trying to take a picture of myself so that those of you who have not yet seen my new haircut would have the opportunity to do so. There were three other people in the house, two of them were in the room with me, but I still took the pictures myself. Also, it's a crappy camera and it was acting wonky. The result is that the only picture I managed to get to work is this one:

which I present to you not as an accurate representation of my new haircut or even of myself, but as evidence of the fact that I've been really bored lately. Also that I have a shirt with a glow-in-the-dark bat on it. I like that shirt. It cost me about $5 at Target after I had spilled coffee down the front of whatever shirt I was wearing at the time.

In other news, I finally bought The Salmon of Doubt. I like it very much, and as a result I keep getting sad. I'll read a section that I find particularly good, I'll get very happy for a moment, and then I'll immediately get sad because Douglas Adams won't be writing anything ever again.

The other purchase that I made yesterday was a cheap pair of canvas shoes. I bought them at Safeway. I find this amusing. But they are comfortable and they were cheap, so I guess that I shouldn't worry too much about the fact that I picked them up from a display between the meat section and the guy at the sample table.
