cold hands

Yesterday evening when I got home from work, I talked to my parents for a minute, changed my clothes, then started a load of laundry. As I was coming upstairs from the basement, I noticed that my right ring finger was feeling odd- sort of numb and sort of tingly and sort of cold. I looked down at my hand to discover that while most of it was normal hand-colored, the right ring finger, from about the midpoint to the tip, was COMPLETELY GONE!!!

OK, no. It was totally white. Like there was no blood in it at all. So, in a sense of "well isn't that odd", I pointed it out to my parents. After exclaiming about it for awhile, and asking questions like "were you wearing a tight ring today?" (no), "did you slam a door on it?" (no), and "are you sure you weren't wearing a ring?" (yes), they proclaimed it officially "weird" and told me to call the doctor if it was still like that in the morning. A few minutes later, we all watched the visible progress of the color returning to the finger, until it was completely back to normal.

I don't know why it happened, but I'd sure like to know, so I can avoid it in future. I wouldn't like to think that my circulatory system just occasionally shuts down bits of my body. I'm pretty sure I need all my fingers.
