About food, folks, and fun

Happy Fake Wednesday, everyone! (The way I figure it, it's a four day week, Mondays suck, so just skip straight to Fake Tuesday. Thus, the last day of the work week remains "Friday", and Real Friday simply becomes "First Saturday".)

Last night I quite enjoyed myself at dinner at Macaroni Grill celebrating afterknowledge's birthday with a bunch of people to whom I am too lazy to link. ragnartheviking, as usual, proved herself to be an amazingly generous and thoughtful and talented gifter. The food was good, the company grand, and the conversation highly entertaining. You've gotta love a group of people who can create sentences like:

"Darth Vader met James Spader in a freighter elevator. Later, in a crater with a trader from Decator, Vader ate potaters and Spader ate tomaters near a gator wearing gaiters."

And so on. That was inspired by Rohini and . . . her brother? quite possibly Jake from La Sierra deciding that there really ought to be a buddy movie about Spader and Vader. And now that they thought of it, it just seems so obvious.

So despite the fact that "Reservation at 7:30" is apparently code for "show up at 7:30 and wait for 45 minutes" and "we're just getting your table ready" code for "we're just waiting for that group of people to finish eating so that you can sit there", and despite the fact that we totally dropped the ball on the whole singing waiter thing, I think everyone had a nice time. I hope.

And today I have leftovers for lunch. And there's a release date for the next Harry Potter. Most excellent.

Actually, I'm pretty sure it was my friend Jake from La Sierra. We had the conversation during a departmental party of some sort.
