Don't call me, I won't know.

This morning I woke up a little after 8:00. I got out of bed briefly- to turn on the TV. I watched cartoons until nearly 11:00. I am turning into lazy crazy couch potato girl. I probably would have stayed in bed longer- got nothing else to do, really- except that my phone, which was plugged into the wall since last night, beeped. I thought "ooh! a text message!" and got up to fetch the phone and read my message.

Except that there was no message. The beep was the phone telling my that it was on low battery.

What the hell? It said that it was charging when I plugged it in last night, and now the battery is nearly drained. Not cool. And yes, I made sure it was plugged in properly. And yes, the power was working. So at some point between last night and this morning my phone went stupid.

I walked into town to see if a local shop could help or at least explain. They could not. They suggest that I take the phone to the Vodaphone store in Nelson. Which, as I have no car and this is a holiday weekend, I won't be able to visit until Tuesday. Grand.

But! On leaving the store and walking up the street, I encountered a parade! Of bagpipers and drummers in kilts! Followed by vintage cars! That was fun.

So happy Queen's Birthday weekend, folks. What an odd feeling to be celebrating that.
