Today was pretty good day. Not particularly eventful, but pleasant enough. I got up in the morning earlier than I would have liked, but for good reason, as I had to catch a train at 8:03 in order to be in the city by 8:30. I've been doing helping with preparing a massive mailing for some people at the office where I was answering the phone temporarily. So I did that this morning, along with two other girls and a guy, and we had a really good rhythm going with the stuffing and folding and such, and we kept ourselves amused with discussions of good concerts and good books and Lord of the Rings. And more Lord of the Rings. And then Lord of the Rings again. And we were too efficient, so that we finished the whole day's work by lunchtime. And there was nothing more to do, as the next phase hadn't been delivered by the printer yet. And we're getting paid by the hour. Oops.
So I went out for lunch with the other girls, and had an extremely satisfying roast beef sandwich on an everything bagel. Then I went to the visitor's center to investigate intercity bus fares. They're manageable. Then I did some window-shopping (and some real shopping- I got two t-shirts that were on 50% clearance. Nothing special, just a way to extend the time between necessary laundry sessions.) I once again saw the present that I would buy for Allison if I was not dirt-poor. Alas, I am dirt poor, so no $50 Eomer messenger bag for you, Allison. Sorry. If it makes you feel better, I can't have the one with Eomer, Eowyn and Theoden, either. They sound weird, and I guess they are weird, but they're also cool.
Things I admitted today that earned me funny reactions from people I barely know:
- If the Order of the Phoenix release date had not been a weekend, I would have arranged to take off work to read.
- I went to a concert to see Survivor, Kansas, and Styx. (The response was "You've seen Survivor live?)
I think there was another one, but I can't remember it now. I also played a game with the little ones in which I was the motherbird and Johannesbird brought me worms to eat. And then he brought me a tiger to eat! The tiger was represented by an area rug. Children are odd.
