About weekends are the best

Previous Entry weekends are the best Jun. 25th, 2007 @ 08:43 am Next Entry
I went to bed before 10:00 last night, because I was sleepy and I had a headache. I woke up this morning after a long sound sleep . . . still sleepy with a headache. This does not bode well.

But hey, the weekend was awesome. Went out Friday night to celebrate the Boy's birthday. Eight of us went down to Rockville to a Brazillian Barbeque place, where we consumed many meats. Then we went down the road to the Dave & Buster's, where the guys shot at things and Lacey and I played Skeeball. We used our ticket winnings (and those of a few people who didn't want to cash theirs in) to get some truly amazing presents for Sharif. There was a small stuffed Care Bear, a basketball hoop hat, a headband with a light-up propeller, and some shot glasses. Wealth indeed.

Saturday was puppy day! And, guys, OH MY GOD. Hans is the cutest puppy. All he wants to do is alternate between sitting in your lap and licking your face. And if your face is not close enough when he wants to start licking it, he will jump and jump until he reaches it. There is photographic evidence, and a couple of short videos, but the camera battery ran low, so it's charging right now. This evening I'll be able to show off. I love the puppy.

Then Saturday night meant the show at the New Deal with Acacia Sears, Keegan Corbey, and Ash & Seeno- that was as great as I was expecting. It was a lovely night, music-wise and weather-wise.

Yesterday, Sharif and I started off slow, but eventually we took our bikes over to Patapsco State Park. We probably only rode about 6 miles total on a very gentle trail. And we stopped a couple of times to wade in the river and enjoy the truly amazing outside. Our one regret was that we were not properly dressed for swimming, as we both really wanted to sit down in the water, but we did not want to face biking back to the car in wet clothes. Next time, we'll know.

Heh. Is that where you were camping? I've never been to one of the camping areas. The area that we have been most has a paved bike/walking trail along the river, a swinging bridge, and some places with river access. Pleasant for a bike ride. Oh, and there's a picnic-y playground-y spot, but we don't hang out there.

I was in the camping area one time, which would have been peaceful, had we not been awoken by search helicopters flying low over the woods for a chunk of the night. (Supposedly they were looking for a handcuffed drug user who had escaped police custody near the river. A bad combination.)
